Description of the load-bearing structure

The structure consists of beams, columns and lattice arches made of hot-dip galvanised steel with a square cross-section of 300 × 300 mm, built from four load-bearing hollow sections with a cross-section of 35 × 35 × 3 mm and diagonal bracing of the same profile type. The structure is composed as follows:

a) Columns / pillars

Base plates 46 × 46 × 1 cm, fixed to the ground with M20 anchor bolts and stiffening plates (6 mm thick), welded to the hollow sections. Vertical framework (lattice) of 35 × 35 × 3 mm hollow sections. Diagonal bracing with horizontal connection reinforcements of 35 × 35 × 3 mm hollow sections.

b) Connection / coupling beams

Vertical framework (lattice) of 35 × 35 × 3 mm hollow sections. Diagonal bracing with vertical connection reinforcements of 35 × 35 × 3 mm hollow sections.

c) Arch trusses / main beams

Arch trusses of steel hollow sections with rectangular cross-section 60 × 100 × 3 mm. Diagonal bracing with vertical connection reinforcements of 35 × 35 × 3 mm hollow sections.

The steel structure is suitable for the installation of photovoltaic modules. For this application, it is recommended to use polycarbonate for the roofing below.

The roofing is executed with CE marking for load-bearing steel components in accordance with UNI EN 1090-1. All metal components are hot-dip galvanised in accordance with UNI EN ISO 1461.
